Care
Packages for American Soldiers

Have
you ever wanted to send a soldier a package, but you just
cannot decide what they need or would even want? It is actually
very simple. All of their must- haves are provided for them.
All they really need is stuff for their leisure time. As a
soldier's wife I have sent many of these packages, not only
to my husband but other soldiers in his unit. They always
say to send beef jerky!
Any
non-perishable food is always welcomed. Eating at the DEFAC
is not always the best and getting American food always makes
things more homely. There are many different kinds of foods
and snacks that fit into this category. Beef jerky is always
at the top of the list. Some other things that can be sent
are canned fruits
, any hard candy, dehydrated soup and drink mixes, easy mac
and cheese, ramen noodles, canned meat and cracker spreads
are loved. Items in glass containers should not be shipped
because there is a high risk they will break and spill. You
can order sausage, cheese, and other goodies over the internet
and have them shipped directly to the soldier to eliminate
risk of the food going bad. Otherwise, while being shipped
your packages tend to get really hot and it will spoil the
food.
Soldiers
also like getting basic necessities, for example: socks, t-shirts,
boxers, toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors, deodorant, fingernail
clippers, foot powder, chap stick, lotions, baby wipes, anything
a normal person uses on a daily basis. If you personally know
a soldier send them stuff that makes them think of home. You
could send pictures, homemade cards, drawings, poems, anything
that would help them think more about being home.
They
have a lot more free time than you think. Getting free time
to pass isn't always the easiest thing when your thousands
of miles away from the people you love. Books are very useful;
a lot of soldiers right now have a book open. Magazines are
another plus, also local newspapers. Current events from home
are very settling to soldiers, especially good ones; it also
helps keep them updated while they are gone. Some things you
can send can actually be quit useful. Silly string for instance,
can help detect wire for trigger explosives. If they spray
it in the air and it doesn't fall then they know there are
trip wires. Phone calling cards are always nice gifts because
soldiers always want to call their families and it is very
expensive to do this.
Not
every soldier has someone to send them care packages or to
write them while they are overseas. There are many ways to
find a soldier to send care packages to. Do a search of Google
for soldiers' angels and you will find many sites where you
can get addresses or a place to where you can send them. Everyone
likes to feel like they are doing good and that what they
are doing means something to somebody. Help a soldier today
by sending them the stuff they need to live a better life.
